Hosted by IDA Dallas and The Reading League Arkansas
IDA Dallas and The Reading League Arkansas are joining together to present Francine Swickheimer, Ed.D., C-SLDI, for a practical session focused on moving students with dyslexia beyond accurate word reading toward skilled reading and writing.
Students with dyslexia need explicit, systematic instruction in foundational reading skills, but strong literacy development also depends on background knowledge, comprehension, and written expression. This session will explore practical ways educators can intentionally build background knowledge during small-group instruction and use that knowledge to strengthen students’ reading comprehension and writing.
