About this event

The Berkeley Law New York City alumni chapter invites you to join Professor Sheila R. Foster '88 and Jami Floyd '89 as they discuss the intersection of climate change, marginalized communities, and the law.

Ever since she was a contributing writer to the Ecology Law Quarterly at Berkeley Law, Sheila Foster has been passionate about environmental justice, helping the issue gain traction through her research, teaching, and public appearances at home and abroad. Her academic research spans a broad range of environmental topics, including innovative resource governance regimes, land use policy, and the role of subnational governments and local leaders in addressing cross-border challenges such as climate change. Sheila, who is a Professor of Law and Public Policy at Georgetown University, is currently appointed as a Visiting Professor of Climate at Columbia University's Climate School and co-directs LabGov, an international applied research laboratory that pioneered and nurtures the Co-City approach that has been adopted or experimented with in several cities around the world. Civil rights journalist (ABC News) and author Jami Floyd will moderate the conversation.

Many thanks to Allan Marks '90 and Milbank for generously hosting this important and timely conversation. Appetizers and beverages will be provided.
