Bellevue Sign Code Update Info Session

Come learn how the city is updating codes around signage and find out how to give feedback

Community members are invited to an afternoon virtual lunch and learn on Mon, Mar. 16 to learn more about the proposed updates to the sign code, talk with the planning team, ask questions and share feedback.

Join the city from 12:00-1:15 p.m. for a presentation on key changes in the proposed update, followed by a Q&A. Registration is optional but encouraged.

Background

Bellevue’s sign code hasn’t had a major update since 2006, and it’s time for a refresh. Following phase one of outreach and engagement and a study session with City Council in November, updates to the sign code are now underway and a first draft will be ready for review the week of March 2.

The update takes into account several important factors to ensure a comprehensive and successful draft, including the functional need for informational and directional signs, economic need to support business visibility and the social and cultural value of maintaining the aesthetics of Bellevue. Signs are an important part of the built environment, and these updates will affect businesses, residents and visitors—both directly and indirectly.
