About this event

Fashion • Fashion

Join us for a community-driven textile event! Bring your gently used clothing to swap, repair your favorite pieces at our mending station, convert your favorite skinny jeans to bell bottoms, and donate old textiles to support local animal shelters. Whether you're looking to refresh your wardrobe, extend the life of your clothes, or help furry friends stay cozy, there's something for everyone!

EVENT STATIONS:

SWAP: Drop in to our first ever clothing swap, hosted by the Chaya Movement! This swap event is intended to give a taste of engaging in circularity and fashion reimagined to go along with the theme of the event. The swap will offer and empower attendees to engage in a sustainable and eco-friendly option for acquiring "new" clothing items and getting rid of unwanted items responsibly. All items not claimed will go towards future swap events and Chayah partners.

Get rid of your “maybe one day” bad mojo, no longer serve a purpose clothing, accessories and shoes and share your unwanted items with someone who will make your old items, new!

Swappers, we ask the following:

--Arrive between 11:00-11:45 a.m. to hang up your items OR you can bring items by the Wednesday before (Oct. 29th) from 5:30-8pm at PCC.

--Make sure your items are SEASONAL fall/winter and in new or gently used condition (Free of stains, damage and tears, minimal signs of wear), clean, pressed and pre-hung preferred (some hangers are available).

--Adult sizes only, gender inclusive (feminine and masculine items will be displayed together).

--Accessories and shoes must also be clean with little signs of wear and in resale condition.

Items to consider swapping: dresses, jeans, sweaters, jackets, skirts, jumpsuits, blouses, boots, booties, pumps, scarves

Not interested in swapping? Or nothing to bring? Still join us and learn about the sustainable fashion movement.

MENDING: The Remakery is hosting two stations! Remakery instructors will walk you through the easy mending steps, provide tools, equipment, fabric and thread to mend or modify your items.

>>Learn how to do visible mending for small patch jobs.

>>Skinny jeans not your thing anymore? Bring those still fitting jeans and turn them into bell bottoms! Remakery is providing fabric, quilt squares, and other fun ways to fill that section.

TEXTILE REPURPOSE: Have old sheets or towels you don’t think humans could use? Bring them in, we are collecting these clean textiles for donation to animal rescue organizations.

It is not necessary to show tickets at the time of the event. This is a way to make sure we have enough space and materials for all who want to attend, and to communicate with those interested.
