Behind the Curtain: A Journey through Hula

Join us for an inside look into what it takes to prepare for and participate in the annual Merrie Monarch Festival. Beginning with insight from the Kumu Hula of each participating hālau followed with a hana hou of the song and dance performed at the annual festival. We will also be featuring some of the finest local vendors that Maui has to offer, giving you an opportunity to shop and support local.

For many of us kamaʻāina (local) to Hawaiʻi, the Merrie Monarch Festival is tradition and something that we look forward to with eager hearts each year. This is a time when Hawaiian culture, language, hula and music are celebrated across Hawaiʻi and throughout the world!

We hope to continue to support, celebrate and cultivate Hawaiian culture, language and hula through this event.
