Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

This exercise is specifically crafted to allow behavioral health responders to test their Psychological First Aid (PFA) skills. In addition, we want to familiarize responders with their roles and responsibilities within the response framework, while also fostering meaningful interaction and communication with our partner organizations.

The day will begin with a recap of PFA core concepts and Incident Command structure, then we will take turns being actors (with script guides) and behavioral health responders, so each person will get to experience being both a survivor and a responder.

At the conclusion of the exercise, our Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit will use evaluator notes and participant survey results to determine capability gaps, areas for improvement, and additional training and exercise needs.

Our partners from Red Cross, Salvation Army, Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management, Philadelphia Department of Public Health, and Keystone Disaster Spiritual Care Network will be supporting this exercise.

Continental breakfast and lunch will be served. Please email us at dbhidsemergencyprep@phila.gov if you have food allergies. You may also bring your own food if you'd like.
