Beginning Sand Casting Rings - Level 1

Seattle's store for the rocks, gems, and everything for lapidary work.  We love to share our passion for nature and foster creativity and learning. Our staff is friendly and knowledgeable and very excited about the hobby. The shop and classrooms are comfortable and inviting.  There's so much to see, you might find yourself there for a long while.The NW Rockhounds Education Center is powered by Shunpike and can receive tax deductible donations. Shunpike is the 501(c)(3) non-profit agency that provides independent arts groups in Washington State with the services, resources and opportunities they need to forge their own paths to sustainable success. We hope through fundraising efforts, these classes can be offered at minimal cost to grow and nuture the art of rockhounding. Students who withdraw 7 days (or less) prior to the start date of the first class DO NOT receive a refund of any kind.CANCELLATIONS:All classes not meeting their minimum requirement three days prior to class start date may be cancelled. NW Rockhounds

In this introductory to sand casting class students will learn the basic fundamentals of wax carving, sand casting, and make a silver ring.

Beginning Sand Casting Rings - Level 1Instructor: Micah HollingerTime: 4pm-8:30pmAges: 18 &amp; upNo Experience NeededPrice: $150 + $90 Kit fee (see bold below)In this introductory to sand casting class students will learn the basic equipment, safety, and materials for wax shaping, packing sand into a mold, melting and pouring silver, and finishing the piece. We’ll cover what types of tools to use for all steps of this process. The best practices for creating a successful pour and all kinds of other fun! Students will create a basic sterling silver ring. This is a great class for beginners or jewelers looking to take their craft to the next level.There is a supply kit fee made payable to the teacher day of class by cash or check. Please come prepared to pay this fee.All other tools will be available for use.- Please Read Below -Check your email a few days before your class for further instructions.This class requires a kit fee, please come prepared.Our classroom is located upstairs and are limited to 4 students for this class.Masks OptionalYou are purchasing a seat at an event just like a sporting event or concert. These tickets are not transferable to a different class credit or store credit if you are not able to make it. Cancellations made 7 days or more in advance of the event date will receive a refund.
