The Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati, Inc. was created in 1948 as a non-profit educational organization to promote interest in handweaving. Today, the Guild offers education in a wide range of fiber processes and techniques, including weaving, felting, spinning, basketry, knitting, and dyeing. Guild members are from the Cincinnati metropolitan area and surrounding communities, as well as from Kentucky and Indiana.Members range in experience from beginners to professionals. All benefit from the Guild's priorities: education through classes, workshops, programs, study groups; sharing information and fiber techniques with other members and community groups; and promoting and supporting local fiber producers and businesses.After 50 years of meeting in various churches throughout Greater Cincinnati, the Guild has its own home at 4870 Gray Road in Spring Grove Village.

Learn punchneedle basics and make a set of two 5" circular coasters complete with cork backing and beaded trim.

Needle Arts

Learn a variety of needle arts including such crafts as knitting, embroidery, punch needle and quilting.

Dates: Saturdays, May 18 and 25, 2024, 10:00 am - 3:30 pm each day. Ticket: $90. Instructor: Cindy Sturdevant. Materials fee: $12. Skills Needed: Beginner level. Class Limit: 10In the first class students will complete a practice sampler by punching lines &amp; shapes to learn the basics and develop their technique, select a pattern for their set of coasters, create a color plan and begin to punch their first coaster. As the process can be time consuming the week in between the two classes will give the students ample time to complete punching the first and second coaster. The second class will consist of having the students using iron-on pellon backings, turning a hem using E-Z Steam pellon strips, gluing cork backing to their works and perhaps adding a beaded edge. The consumable materials fee includes:<ul><li>3 - 11” x 11" pieces of Weavers cloth, 1 for practice and 2 for making two coasters</li><li>10 skeins of DMC embroidery floss for practice &amp; beginning on coaster designs</li><li>2 – strips of E-Z™ steam two- sided fusible tape1 - 5” x 10” #906F pellon backing for coasters</li><li>1 - 5” x 10” #71F pellon backing for coasters</li><li>1 - 5” x 10” adhesive cork backing for coasters</li><li>1 - Instructor-made instruction booklet All other equipment &amp; supplies will be provided by the instructor.</li></ul>Supplies to Bring:<ul><li>$12 materials fee payable to the instructor at start of class. Retired after 30 years as an art instructor for the Wyoming City Schools she currently lives and works in her Mt. If so, you will be notified before the first class.Unless specifically stated, Weavers Guild classes are designed for ages 18 and above. On a case-by-case basis, a minor may be permitted to register for a class but must be accompanied by a registered adult who agrees to assist the minor during the class. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
