Beginning Mosaic Workshop

I love working with my hands, trying new crafts and being creative but it wasn't until I discovered collage that I truly felt like an artist. Since then, I’ve studied at Studio One Arts Center, The Crucible, Mendocino Arts Center, The Kala Institute, Slow Burn Glass and The Bullseye Glass Resource Center expanding my work into mosaics, mixed media encaustic painting, ceramics, glass fusing, and woodworking. Whether I'm working with clay, wax, or grout  in each of these mediums I find satisfaction in the meditative process and slowly watching the finished piece emerge. In 2015 I created the Laili Bug Studio at www.LailiBug.com as a place to show, sell and write about my work. Thanks for checking it out!

Have you always wanted to make your own mosaic? Learn basic glass mosaic techniques and come away with a gorgeous original piece of art! In this four-hour mosaic mirror workshop you will experiment with mosaic patterns, placement and balance while assembling and grouting your own masterpiece. No previous experience is needed, all supplies are included, and all glass will be precut. The final product will be your 10"x10" mirror ready to hang in your home.
This workshop takes place at Rhythmix Cultural Works, a community art center in Alameda. There will be a break in class, so feel free to bring snacks or drinks to enjoy. Mosaic work is not very messy, and we will wear gloves when working with grout, but don't wear your favorite outfit.
