Located in mid-city LA (address provided upon registration), CJAS is a beautiful, intimate jewelry studio dedicated to promoting community and connection by encouraging people to make things with their own hands. Over the course of one day, you will be guided through the process of designing, shaping, sizing, cutting, soldering, and finishing 2-3 sterling silver rings. Class sizes are kept small, so you will get lots of personal attention. No experience necessary!

CJAS is located in Mid-City LA, with easy access to the 10 freeway. The specific address is provided upon registration.
Anyone 15 years of age or older is welcome in this workshop. We will be using small torches to solder.
Yes. Every student is required to sign a waiver before beginning the workshop.
There is plenty of free street parking available near CJAS.
All hand tools will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own, if you have them. Closed-toed shoes are required and long hair must be worn up, so please bring a hair tie.
The Beginning Metalsmithing and Soldering workshop runs from 10am-5pm, with one hour for lunch. You are welcome to bring lunch, or go to one of the many great places to eat that are within a ten minute drive from the studio. We are happy to provide restaurant and cafe recommendations.
Yes! You can learn the skills of sawing, shaping, soldering, and sanding no matter how creative you think you are. There are a few design options to choose from in this workshop, so you don’t have to do any designing, if you don’t feel comfortable in that area.
Instruction and use of tools are included. We will be working with sterling silver in this workshop. A materials fee collected during the workshop
It is not necessary to know your own ring size. We will size your finger as part of the process of making your ring. You will need to know the size if you plan to make a ring for someone else, since, presumably, you can’t bring that person’s finger with you.
Yes! These workshops are designed to be social in addition to educational. We will talk, laugh, and learn. So grab a friend and come on over.
