Beginning Lapidary - Cabochon Cutting

Price: $90 including supplies

Learn the art of cutting stone! You will learn how to turn a rough stone/slab into a beautiful shaped and polished cabochon ready to be set in jewelry or for your display case. You will learn the tools used to cut stone, get comfortable working with equipment, and you will cut Brazilian Agate (provided) into a calibrated oval shape. This class is one of the requirements for the open lapidary studio.

Is this class loud?

Yes. You will be working with loud equipment (earplugs are provided).

Do we have to wear masks?

No, masks are optional. We do have a stage in the stone cutting process where masks are required (provided as well)

You are purchasing a seat at an event just like a sporting event or concert. These tickets are not transferable to a different class credit or store credit if you are not able to make it. Cancellations made 7 days or more in advance of the event date will receive a refund.

Seattle's store for the rocks, gems, and everything for lapidary work.  We love to share our passion for nature and foster creativity and learning. Our staff is friendly and knowledgeable and very excited about the hobby. The shop and classrooms are comfortable and inviting.  There's so much to see, you might find yourself there for a long while.The NW Rockhounds Education Center is powered by Shunpike and can receive tax deductible donations. Shunpike is the 501(c)(3) non-profit agency that provides independent arts groups in Washington State with the services, resources and opportunities they need to forge their own paths to sustainable success. We hope through fundraising efforts, these classes can be offered at minimal cost to grow and nuture the art of rockhounding. CLASS POLICIES

PLEASE NOTE UPDATED POLICIES ARE EFFECTIVE January 1, 2022

REFUND POLICY: Students who withdraw 8 days (or more) prior to the start date of the first class receive a full refund. Students who withdraw 7 days (or less) prior to the start date of the first class DO NOT receive a refund of any kind.

CANCELLATIONS: All classes not meeting their minimum requirement three days prior to class start date may be cancelled. In the event of class cancellation by NW Rockhounds, you will be notified by e-mail or by phone and receive a full refund of tuition and fees. 

MISSED CLASSES: There are no discounts or refunds for missed classes or late registrations.

HOLD HARMLESS: I agree to hold harmless NW Rockhounds, its employees and agents for any and all claims for personal injury and/or property damage in which damage and injury is or appears to be proximately caused in whole or in part by my participation in this program.

PHOTO PERMISSION: I give permission for NW Rockhoundsto use, without limitation or obligation, photographs which may include my image or artwork for purposes of promoting programs.
