Our uber talented team member, Ellen has been with us for over eight years and works closely with Jenny to create many of the products we sell in our store. One of her favorite mediums is Ephemera, which is a fancy word for paper items (such as posters, advertisements and tickets) that were originally meant to be discarded after use but have since become collectibles. A junk journal is a handmade book containing personal and recycled materials to store ideas and memories. Part scrapbooking, part journaling, and a whole lot of fun, this workshop is sure to get you hooked on this popular craft, Junk Journaling.
The universal theme of this Workshop is “What I Love” and Ellen will focus on some beginning techniques, starting with a cover design and then going into several page designs. Created using found, vintage and repurposed items, each participant will receive a 24 page blank journal (both paper and heavier cardstock) allowing for individual sections, bound with two large metal rings, so you can add / move the pages around. A metal stamped “What I Love” bookmark made by Melissa is included, plus a kit including lots of fun bits to inspire and use in your design.
You’ll also have access to lots of different types of vintage papers to include dictionary pages, maps, vintage photos, magazine pages, sewing patterns, game pieces to use while you’re with us. You'll also get a turn working with an antique 'crimper/fluter' from the late 1800's to create interesting textures.
Perfect for beginners and advanced alike, this Workshop is approximately 3 hours long and Ellen & Team will be hands-on creating with you the entire time. Workshop limited to six participants to allow for maximum one on one with Ellen. Participants must be 16 years or older. All supplies are provided – just bring your creativity and willingness to have fun!
Downtown SLO Parking structure voucher is included in the Workshop price.
