Dot painting is a technique where dots of paint, in assorted sizes areapplied to a surface to create beautiful patterns and designs.
The word “mandala” is Sanskrit for “Circle” and symbolizes The Circle of Life found in the most ancient art forms. Mandalas have been used by Buddhists, Hindus, Tibetans, and Native Americans in prayer, meditation and for healing.
In this workshop you will create a Dot Mandala on a 6” x 6” canvas. You will create using your choice of colors so each
will vary. Basic Design:
You will learn:
• Prepping the canvas – base and background color• Layout the Canvas using caulk pencil, ruler, and compass – planning for precision• Dos and Don’ts – Mistakes are opportunities.• Paints – what is best, consistency and how to store• Dotting Tools – get familiar with the tools and how to clean• Practice on paper, learning proper spacing, effective placement of a dot, “walking the dots,” using top dots, swooshes, swipes and teardrops.• Create!• Finishing
