Beginner MIG Welding Course – Lexington Makerspace
Learn the fundamentals of MIG welding in this hands-on beginner course at Lexington Makerspace in Lexington, Kentucky.
This class is designed for anyone interested in learning how to weld, even if you have no previous welding experience. Participants will be introduced to the basic equipment, safety procedures, machine setup, and techniques needed to begin MIG welding confidently and safely.
During the course, we’ll cover:
- MIG welding equipment and how it works
- Basic welding safety and protective equipment
- Proper machine setup and adjustments
- How to position and hold the MIG welding gun
- Preparing metal before welding
- Creating your first welds
- Basic welding techniques and best practices
- Common beginner mistakes and how to correct them
What to Wear
For safety, participants should wear:
- Long pants
- Closed-toe shoes
- Long-sleeve cotton shirt
Please avoid highly flammable or synthetic clothing when possible. If you do not have an appropriate long-sleeve shirt, a welding jacket will be provided for you to use during the class.
All other required welding safety equipment will be available during instruction.
