Beginners Embroidery Workshop

Gareth Brookes is a graphic novelist, print maker, textile artist, small press publisher, teacher and event organiser. He graduated in Fine Art Printmaking at the RCA in 2003. He make experimental graphic novels and handmade comics utilizing unusual materials such as embroidery, pressed flowers and fire. In 2012 he won theFirst Graphic Novel Prize. His graphic novel'sThe Black ProjectandA Thousand Coloured Castlesare published byMyriad Editions. He is a tutor in Foundation Studies at City & Guilds of London Art School, and a visiting lecturer in Illustration at the University of Lincoln. He also organises the South London Comic and Zine Fair.

Ever wanted to learn the basics of hand-stitched embroidery? This workshop will teach you all you need to know to begin. Introducing materials and equipment, simple stitches, and how to get started on a longer piece, you'll be all set to embark on a lifetime of stiching.
Taught in a relaxed and friendly environment by embroiderer, printmaker and graphic novelist Gareth Brookes (MA, RCA).
All Materials are included.
Children welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Please arrive 5 minutes before the start. Spaces are limited so booking is essential.
