Beginner Class is for dogs ten months and older. Students learn how to become benevolent leaders of the “pack” and to teach their dogs exercises that will help them to become well-mannered family pets. Beginner Class exercises include the life saving skills of recalls and door and gate manners as well as attention on you, walking nicely on a leash, sit, down, stand, and an introduction to tricks.

Important! If you are not a DTCDC member, veterinary receipts showing current rabies, parvovirus, & bordetella vaccines must be provided via email to registrar@dallasdogtraining.org within 24 hours of registering. BE SURE TO INCLUDE ORDER #, NAME, & DOG'S NAME ON THESE VETERINARY RECEIPTS.

Failure to provide these documents will result in being dropped from class.

Is there an age requirement for the dog?

Yes, 10 months and older.

How many weeks is the class?

Class meets for 6 weeks on Wednesdays.

Can my female dog attend class while in season/heat/estrus?

No, however the handler may attend class without the dog. Depending on the timing, rescheduling may be a better alternative.

Can my dog attend class if ill or injured - vomiting, diarrhea, limping, coughing, etc?

No. If possible, please attend class without your dog to learn the week's lesson.

What vaccinations are required?

Rabies, parvovirus, and bordetella vaccines are required.

If you are a DTCDC member: Be sure to update the Annual Form with current vaccination information.

What are the class times?

Is the training indoors?

Yes, in a climate controlled building.

Is there a minimum age limit?

Handlers under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian.

Are all breeds welcome?

Yes

Are mixed breeds welcome?

Yes

Do I bring my dog to the first night?

Yes

Do all registration questions need to be answered?

Yes, all questions must be answered before registration is complete. These questions provide us with information that will improve your training experience.

Will I be contacted with confirmation of acceptance into class?

Yes, watch for email confirmation of acceptance from the registrar after all requirements are completed. This may take 2-3 days.

Is there a Training Handbook?

Yes, watch your email for a link to the Training Handbook. This will arrive approximately 3 days prior to your first class.

Is there a discount for First Responders & Military?

Y es, the first responders discount is available for Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, EMT, and Paramedics.

DTCDC is an all volunteer, not-for-profit club that was organized in 1974. Our mission is to promote training programs that will develop obedient and happy dogs which will be a source of pleasure and pride to their families and good canine citizens in their community. We promote responsible dog ownership through obedience and other dog related activities. Classes for the public include: Puppy, Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Intermediate, Novice, Beginner Open, Utility, Novice Rally, Advanced Rally, Conformation, Nosework, and Utility. Our instructors are experienced and highly qualified. All classes consist of a 6 week training course, indoors and climate controlled.
