Join us for a beginner kayak on Lake Newport in Mill Creek Metro Parks. We'll cover the basics, including how to launch your kayak, paddling techniques, safety tips, and equipment recommendations. Once we're out on the water, we'll explore the wetlands and take in the stunning views from a whole new perspective. All experience levels are welcome!
WHO: 18+
WHEN: June 7, 2026 @ 11 AM * Please arrive 30 minutes early to fill out waivers and get fitted for equipment. We launch promptly at the start time of the trip.
WHERE: Mill Creek Metroparks- Lake Newport- East Newport Boat Ramp
DETAILS: Meet at the East Newport boat ramp on Lake Newport. You can access East Newport Drive from either Shields Rd. or Brookwood Rd. in Boardman, or from Kiwatha Rd. in Youngstown (off Glenwood Ave). We suggest using the Google Maps navigation app to get there. GPS Coordinates: 41.06007° N, -80.67418° W.
You can bring your own kayak or use one of ours. Arrive 30 minutes early to complete waivers and unload equipment. Suggested personal items to bring: sunscreen, bug spray, hat, sunglasses, drinking water, snacks, hand sanitizer, and binoculars. Please wear shoes that can get wet and have a back strap(no flip-flops or Crocs).
FEE: $30 rental/$15 BYOK (Bring Your Own Kayak)
