Strongly recommend that you are vaccinated for COVID. Things continue to move in a positive direction with vaccinations, but we&#x27;ll continue to monitor the situation for any changes.Space is limited to 8 students. (One &quot;ticket&quot; registers you for all 6 sessions)Wear comfortable, smooth soled shoes and bring water bottle. No partner required.Donation: $5 per class IF you are able - pay in cash at classInstructor: Piper CallThroughout the six sessions you&#x27;ll learn:<ul><li>The Stack of Barley</li><li>The Connemara Set</li><li>The Antrim Square</li><li>The Merchant Set</li><li>Basic steps for sets: Lead around step, Advance &amp; Retire, House, Swing</li><li>Dancing to different time signatures: Reels, Jigs, Hornpipes, Polkas</li><li>The Connemara Step</li><li>The Clare Step</li></ul>The Inisheer Irish Dancers perform traditional Irish Sets and Sean nos (old style) step dancing with a joyfulness that they delight in sharing with audiences. Since 2003,the Gainesville, Florida based group has performed at venues all over North Florida, including the Ormond Beach Celtic Festival, the Florida Folk Festival and as far away as Jackson, Mississippi for Celtic Fest Mississippi.Set dancing is a form of social dancing which has been popular in Ireland for over 150 years. Sets are danced by four couples in a square, and usually consist of three to six figures with a short pause between each. They are descended from the French quadrilles, which were brought to Ireland by the British army in the nineteenth century. Irish dancers adapted the figures to their own music and steps to form dances with great drive and enjoyment. After a period of decline in the fifties and sixties, sets are very popular today in Ireland and in Irish communities throughout the world.
