Introducing Beginner Foundations!
The foundations of dance are the basic principles and skills that help dancers move effectively and expressively. They include the body, space, time, energy, movement, relationships, and expression. Dancers use their bodies through posture, balance, and coordination, while space involves directions, levels, pathways, and shapes. Time includes rhythm, beats, tempo, and pauses, while energy describes the quality and force of movement, such as being strong, soft, sharp, or smooth. Movement includes actions like jumping, turning, bending, and stretching. Dancers also use relationships to interact with other dancers or their surroundings and use expression to communicate emotions and ideas. Together, these foundations help dancers develop technique, creativity, control, and confidence.
