Learn the sustainable handcrafted art of natural cold-process soap-making. You'll get to infuse natural plant oils, herbs and learn how to safely work with lye to craft a skin-loving recipe. Herbal S.T.E.M.mers' is the educational D.I.Y Studio of Bubbly Moon Naturals and has been teaching artisan and herbal skin care making courses since 2016.

Frequently asked questions

What supplies should I bring with me?

Gloves, a spatula and a silicone spoon, a face mask, goggles, a soap mold if you prefer your own (we have some for students) a bag with a cardboard bottom or a flat tote to take your creation home in.

What should I wear?

Wear clothes you don't mind getting a little messy or bring an apron. Long sleeves and pants are ideal. Don't forget your goggles or protective eye wear.

What neighborhood is the event in and what are the cross streets of Bailey's Cafe?

Bainbridge and Decatur Streets. The B44 and A or C trains to Utica Avene are the closest modes of public transportation. The neighborhood is Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

May I record the class?

No video recording of the instructor is allowed. However, you may take photos of yourself and class participants you get permission from.

This soap making class is partially funded via The Laundromat Project's (Re)Connect Grant (formerly Creative Action Fund) is a micro-grant program designed to seed the ongoing work of of The LP Create Change alumni.
