Join us for a Beginner Bird Walk at Hirundo, learn how to ID birds in the field or just enjoy birding with others!
Curious about birds but not sure where to start? Join us for a Beginner Bird Walk at Hirundo, designed for anyone who wants to learn how to identify birds in the field. No prior experience required.
A Hirundo Naturalist will guide the group on a relaxed hike, helping participants learn and practice the basics of bird identification. We’ll focus on simple, accessible techniques such as observing size and shape, behavior, habitat, coloration, and listening for bird calls. Along the way, we’ll take time to slow down, ask questions, and build confidence in spotting and identifying common local species.
Participants are welcome to bring their own binoculars, or borrow Hirundo’s binoculars or monoculars (limited supply available). Whether you’re brand new to birding or just looking to sharpen your observation skills or spend time with others that appreciate birds, this walk offers a supportive, low-pressure way to connect with birds and the natural world.
Come learn, practice, and see what’s been flying by unnoticed!

Tickets are free or by a donation amount of your choosing. Donations directly help us maintain our nest boxes, acquire & maintain birding supplies, & support our educational birding programs!
