Organized by

Kobina (Koh-Bi-Nah) means to dance in Lingala (A language from Congo).

MFK Afro is an organization dedicated to building community and awareness about Afro-dance culture through hosting experiences such as dance classes and producing events.

On April 1, 2017, Madeforkobina was launched as an online publication celebrating African American artists in the D.M.V area. About a year later, on February 25th, 2018, the Founder hosted her first ever Afro based workshop. As the workshops became more popular in the D.M.V area, Founder, along with some friends, decided to host the first ever all day dance explosion in the D.C area. The Explosion took place on August 25th, 2018 in Washington, DC with 10 different dance instructors coming from across the country. Today, as a team, Madeforkobina continues to host various Afro based workshops, host events, create Afro dance projects and perform at various locations around the D.M.V area. We'd love for you to move with us!
