Join the Farm Alliance of Baltimore and Sajeeda Urban Farm for Beekeeping for Beginners, an entry-level workshop that will provide a robust overview of beekeeping with an emphasis on maintaining a successful apiary in an urban environment. Topics covered will include:<ul><li>Essential Tools &amp; Equipment</li><li>Beekeeping Fundamentals</li><li>Swarm Management</li><li>Honey Harvesting &amp; Processing</li></ul> About the SeriesThis is the first workshop in a 4-part series. Keep growing your skills with:<ul><li>Sustainable Hive Management – learn how to support hive health across the seasons</li><li>Hands-On Hive Inspection – get in the hive and build confidence working directly with bees</li><li>Honey Processing – experience extracting + processing honey firsthand</li></ul> About the FacilitatorSaj Dillard is an urban farmer and community advocate in Baltimore City. She owns and operates Sajeeda Urban Farm in West Baltimore, located on land that she purchased from the city in May 2024. Saj has been part of Baltimore's urban farming community for the last 5 years and has extensive experience across a broad range of areas, including animal husbandry, vegetable production and processing, market management, and farm maintenance. She holds several certifications in beekeeping and manages several apiaries, including the apiary at the Farm Alliance's Black Butterfly Teaching Farm. Additional InformationThis workshop will be held indoors. We encourage you to bring a water bottle! Extra water, masks, and hand sanitizer will be provided.<ul><li>Parking: Parking is available in the lot on the north side of the Union Mill building. Street parking is also available in the neighborhood.</li><li>Restrooms: There is a restroom on site.</li><li>Accessibility: The conference room is on the first floor with ramp access. Seating will be provided.</li><li>Illness: Please do not attend this event if you are sick or experiencing symptoms of illness including but not limited to fever, coughing, and/or vomiting.</li><li>Cancellation Policy: In the event that we need to cancel due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, attendees will receive an email notification.</li></ul> Questions?
