Welcome to the Beating the Odds Summit hosted by the Crescent Coalition!
Join us at the Central Piedmont Community College for an inspiring event filled with motivational speakers, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities. This is a one-day professional level conference for college bound students to prepare you with the knowledge, skills and support that will help you succeed and overcome barriers to persisting in college.
This conference has been thoughtfully planned for Seniors who are involved with a host of amazing college-access organizations in Charlotte, including The Academy of Goal Achievers, Carolina Youth Coalition, GenOne, Greater Steps Scholars, Friedland Foundation, MeckEd, Road to Hire, UrbanPromise Charlotte and Wayfinders!
Discover strategies for Beating the Odds in your path to earning an education. We'll have delicious food, "College Starter Pack" giveaways, high-dollar raffle prizes and more. You'll also have time to connect with other college students who will share best practices to help you succeed!

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, attendance is FREE for Seniors attending from Crescent Coalition organizations and its affiliate programs!
Yes! All graduating Seniors from the following organizations have been invited to the Beating the Odds Summit: The Academy of Goal Achievers, Carolina Youth Coalition, GenOne, Greater Steps Scholars, Friedland Foundation, MeckEd, Road to Hire, UrbanPromise Charlotte and Wayfinders!
We are still working on our food selection, but we will plan to include select food options from the following list of ideas: Chick-fil-A, Latin American food, Chipotle, Pizza, Nice breakfast, Ice cream truck / special dessert
Registration and breakfast will start at 8:00AM with key programming starting by 9:00AM. Summit activities will run until the conclusion of lunch around 1:00PM. Optional advising sessions with staff from local universities will take place from 1:00 to 3:00PM!
We are still working on our final prize selection, but we will plan to include select prizes from the following list of ideas: Gift Cards, Shoes/Clothes, Scholarship, MacBook / Laptop or other electronics like AirPods, School supplies, Dorm stuff, Bedding, College-branded gear and Portable chargers
Yes, you can get dropped off on Elizabeth Avenue! We will have volunteers stationed to help you find the Summit. CPCC has free parking options at parking decks on campus — We will communicate instructions for where to park in advance.
The Summit will be held primarily in the North Classroom building, in a large auditorium and six classrooms where we will hold workshops.
