About this event

Join us for a transformative experience at the Be The Bee Workshop, guided by renowned beekeeper Melissa Sorokin. This workshop is designed to deepen your understanding and appreciation of bees, essential pollinators within our ecosystem.

Schedule:

  • 9:00 AM: Participants gather at the Welcome Center for introductions followed by a brief talk on the significance of bees in the Patch ecosystem.
  • 9:15 AM: Engage in a "Bee Breath" session featuring bhramari and rhythmic belly breathing, complemented by meditation on the "way of the bee" and gentle stretching exercises for self-care.
  • 10:00 AM: Embark on a mindful walk through the pocket park and around the lake, leading to the apiary. Participants will greet bees and other pollinators en route.
  • 10:30 AM: At the apiary, split into three groups to explore bee hives. Experience hands-on interaction with bee frames and hive inspection. This is a chance to observe, draw, photograph, and inquire about hive dynamics.
  • 12:00 PM: Return from the apiary and transition out of beekeeping attire. A lite bag lunch is optional when reserved for $20 prior to the event.
  • 1:00 PM: Participants disperse to various inspired locations within Patch to observe bees in their natural settings. Opportunities for photography, poetry, sketching, and meditative communication with bees will be available.
  • 1:30 PM: Reconvene at the Welcome Center to share insights, experiences, and creative expressions from the day.
  • 2:00 PM: Workshop concludes.
