About this event

  • 2 hours

There is change that comes slowly--gentle dawning of new understanding. And there are moments that shatter: joyful or terrifying jolts that reshape us. They often come in connections and disconnections to others: birth, death, love, betrayal, loss. For anyone who has let a deep and unsettling truth shift something core within themselves, and change their connection to others–this concert is a communal honoring of that experience.

Audrey Assad’s latest EP Be Still, an album of hope and healing will be our guide as we spend the night in music, and stillness, and attention to our collective stories and what is sacred among us. Audrey will be joined by Bay Area based artists, Kate Lamont, Aisea Taimani, and Keith Watts.

About the Artists:

Singer/songwriter Audrey Assad, a New York native, began her musical journey after relocating to Florida at the age of 18. It was there that the deeply spiritual Assad decided to focus all of her energies on her faith. A flurry of local shows and worship events followed, resulting in a move to Nashville and a five-song EP called Fireflies that drew the attention of CCM label Sparrow Records. Assad continued to hone her craft, writing songs for other performers and touring with Dove Award-winning artist Chris Tomlin. Her full-length debut for Sparrow, The House You're Building, arrived on July 13, 2010. It did well commercially and critically, paving the way for 2012′s Heart, which primarily featured writing work from Assad but also included contributions from Matt Maher, Christopher Stevens, Derek Webb, and Sandra McCracken. An independent album, Fortunate Fall, appeared in August 2013, followed by Inheritance in early 2016; both albums peaked at number two on the U.S. Billboard Folk Albums chart. In 2018, Assad returned with her fifth studio album, Evergreen.

A midwest transplant now over a decade in the Bay, Kate Lamont is a recording artist, worship leader, songwriter & music educator. A board member of the Recording Academy, Kate is passionate about advocacy and education within the arts community. She loves how music connects people to one another, the soul, and the Spirit. Kate admires the creative power of collaboration in music so much that she has a TedX Talk about it. She loves having the opportunity to serve the Bay Area through music education, advocacy, mentorship, and entertainment.

Aisea Taimani Is a Tongan American Creative Artist based out of the Bay Area, where he serves alongside his love, Elmira. Aisea has served internationally as a minister of music for over 20 years with a focus on Glocal Worship, as a tool to invite, equip & celebrate diversity in the body of Christ. As a spiritual accompanist, Aisea mentors and collaborates with local artists & works to build authentic spirituality in creative community.

Keith Watts (he/they) grew up in San Diego, California and has been extremely privileged to call the San Francisco/ East Bay Area an adoptive home since 2010. Inspired by a queer, bicultural—black and Vietnamese—identity, and rooted in a deep search for love in all its forms; Keith Watts’ songs have been featured in collaboration with The Porter’s Gate collective. When not songwriting, Keith saunters about the Oakland or Berkeley hills, learning all there is to know about the plants, mushrooms, and local history of the land.
