The Community Parent Network (CPN)is a parent volunteer committee of the Stevenson Foundation. Community Parent Network (CPN)

Audience: anyone who has, works with, or knows pre-K to 12th graders
* Have you ever thought about the presence of a gun at your child’s playdate or sleepover?
* Have you ever wondered how to ask someone if there is a gun in their home?
* Did you know that the presence of a gun has more of an effect on teen suicide than mental illness?
Be SMART for Kids is a safety program that educates adults on simple steps they can take to save lives and reduce:

unintentional shootings by children 
</LI>
<LI>
teen suicide 
</LI>
</UL>
Topics covered: safe storage, modeling responsible behavior around guns, asking about unsecured guns, and recognizing the risks and warning signs of teen suicide.
You will learn how to talk to your friends, family and parents of other children about having firearms in their homes and how they are stored. You also will learn how to keep guns out of the hands of children. Be SMART works with adults to help make sure kids are safe from gun violence.
