<h3>San Mateo County Human Trafficking Action Plan</h3> <h4>You are invited to the launch of the SMC Human Trafficking Action Plan on Monday, December 8, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. This event is being hosted by the County in partnership with the United States Attorney’s Office, Northern District of California; HIDTA/Northern California Regional Intelligence Center (NCRIC); Federal Bureau of Investigation; and Department of Homeland Security/Homeland Security Investigation.</h4><h4> </h4>Next year, the Bay Area will host two of the top sports events in the world: the Super Bowl in Santa Clara in February and FIFA matches throughout the region starting in June. These big events will attract millions of visitors. It is imperative that our region focuses on a heightened, coordinated effort for human trafficking prevention, education, awareness, training and response. In that light, San Mateo County is launching an awareness campaign, Be Aware. Prepare. - SMC Human Trafficking Action Plan, to ensure that every elected official, every law enforcement officer, every victim’s service provider, every business owner, every hospitality worker, every health worker, every educator, every transportation worker and every resident is prepared for next year. We will discuss various aspects of human trafficking, including regional threat assessments, law enforcement training and prosecution, service provider resources, and hospitality, healthcare, and transportation, readiness.
