Welcome to BCH HSS Inspections - BH event at Birmingham Children's Hospital!
This is an on-site safety inspection giving you the opportunity to
- discuss any concerns that you may have
- receive support in developing local risk assesments
- ensure that your department is compliant with health & safety regulations
The inspection will last approximatley two hours and it is crucial that the ward or department manager (or their representative) accompanies us.

Yes, inspections are a requirment as per the Health & Safety Policy and should be completed at least once every two years.
Two hours - during this time you will have an opportunity to discuss your concerns and provide a walk through of your department. We will conduct a checklist inspection and relay our findings back to you.
A department manager, someone with health & safety responsibility, or their representative, should accompany the health and safety inspector. It is an opportunity to discuss any concerns.
We will provide verbal summary immediately after the inspection. We will then share a written report which is stored on sharepoint. This report will outline your key aras of risks and suggest how to reduce those risks.

Please arrange for a representative to cover you so that the inspection can carry on ahead as scheduled. If this is not possible, please cancel the booking and rebook.
