Join us for the Battle of Tettenhall & Wednesfield 910 AD Walk!

Get ready to step back in time and experience the historic Battle of Tettenhall & Wednesfield in 910 AD. This in-person event will begin at The Nickelodeon, Greene King Pub & Carvery on Sat, Jun 01, 2024, at 13:00 PM and end at Smestows Valley Plaque & Oddfellows Pub at 15:30PM

The Battle of 910 AD stands as a pivotal moment in English history, marking a significant step towards the unification of the kingdom. Led by the remarkable Aethelflaed, this conflict was a testament to her strategic brilliance and unwavering determination. As we traverse the very paths where history was forged, we will unravel the events that unfolded and pay homage to the valour of those who fought alongside her.

Along the way, we will engage in insightful discussions, led by knowledgeable guides, shedding light on her pivotal role in shaping the course of England's history. We will enjoy mead and medieval bread en route!

The walk begins at 1 pm. Please have lunch beforehand or bring a packed meal with drinks. We finish at Oddfellows Pub, which is dog-friendly. The full walk is 3 miles, with St Peters at the midpoint. You can join from a convenient location. Pack waterproofs in case of rain and wear good shoes or trainers. Feel free to dress up if it's sunny. The route from Wednesfield to St Peters and Newbridge is wheelchair accessible, but the path from Newbridge to Tettenhall is muddy and not paved. We will meet the Vikings at Cupcake Lane Café near Newbridge if you prefer not to do the entire walk
