What creatures soar when the sun sets and the dark night rises over the Yolo Causeway?
On Interstate 80 between Davis and Sacramento each summer evening, <A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_free-tailed_bat" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Mexican free-tailed bats</A> emerge in droves to feed for the night. This August, join CapSciComm, NorCal Bats, and the Yolo Basin Foundation for a family-friendly gathering to witness this natural wonder of the Sacramento region!

Our CapSciComm Science Tour this August will be led by Corky Quirk, program coordinator for the <A HREF="http://yolobasin.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Yolo Basin Foundation</A> and the founder and executive director of <A HREF="http://www.norcalbats.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">NorCal Bats</A>, a Sacramento-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of bats.
<A HREF="https://baynature.org/article/the-bat-lady-of-yolo-basin/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Quirk is renowned locally as "the Bat Lady"</A> and will introduce us to the biology of the Yolo Causeway bats, before leading us on a drive to the viewing site for the grand spectacle.
Children are welcome to this event, and be sure to grab your ticket early. If you've never seen the bats of the Yolo Causeway before, we hope you can join us on August 6th!
