Overview

Build character through animal study. Choose one animal, explore its movement, and transform it into specific, alive human behavior.

Characterization: Working with Animals

with Bruno Rigobello

This physically driven workshop focuses on building character from the outside in. Each participant will study one animal of their choice before class paying close attention to how it moves, reacts, and exists in space. This preparation is essential, as we will not spend time researching in class.

Using that study as a foundation, we’ll work on embodying the animal’s physical qualities and gradually translating them into human behavior. Through guided exercises, you’ll explore how movement generates behavior, and how behavior leads to emotional life.

The goal is to create characters that feel specific, grounded, and alive - rooted in clear physical choices rather than general ideas.

We'll finish by placing these characters into shared situations, allowing them to interact and play - discovering how they respond to each other in real time.
