This class is given at the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama at our onsite wastewater training center. The center has lots of hand-on demonstrations of different types of onsite sewage systems, and is the only facility of its type in Alabama. Visit our website at aowtc.uwa.edu for more information.
The class is approved by the Alabama Onsite Wastewater Board (AOWB). If you have not filled out an application to take the class with the AOWB and received approval from them, you must do so before attending the class. You can contact them at 334-353-9250, or visit them online at aowb.alabmama.gov
The class is three and a half days long and focuses primarily on the Alabama Department of Public Health’s (ADPH) onsite sewage rules and regulations. Upon registration, you will get an email with a copy of the rules to begin your studies and directions to the class.
After the class you must pass the Basic Installers Examination. You can apply for the exam by contacting the AOWB. The exam is offered five times annually. The AOWB office, located at 60 Commerce St., Suite 1050 in Montgomery, Alabama. There is a separate fee of $150.00 to take the exam.
