Basic Corsetry

Have you ever wondered how a corset is put together? Ever wanted to take a bold step and make one yourself? Maybe off the rack corsets don't fit you? If that is the case, then this class is for you!

This is a two day course: November 7th, 10:00am-4:00pm and November 8th, 12:00pm-3:30pm.

Join Christi in learning all the ins and outs of basic corsetry. In this class you will learn :

• Some brief history
• How to take your measurements and translate those on to a commercially available pattern
• Make and fit a mockup

This class will work for those who want to seriously start their journey into corset making, those who want an amazing piece for a costume, and those who are just exploring. Everyone is welcome.

Supplies Needed:

• 1.5 yds of coutil, 1.5 yds muslin, and 1.5 yds of a fashion fabric
• Rigilene, german plastic boning, flat steel boning, industrial zip ties (plastic)
• spiral steel boning boning tips
• small bolt cutters
• small channel lock pliers
• medium needle nose pliers

Skills needed to join: Previous experience with sewing patterns, ability to sew a basic seam on a sewing machine, ability to cut fabric according to sewing patterns and measurements, basic hand sewing (thread a needle, do a whip stitch)
