About this event

Wildlands Trust will host Bill Girard from Girard Custom Cut Hardwood (a Game of Logging training organization) for a two-day basic skills chainsaw course hosted at the Stewardship Training Center in Plymouth.

This course will be held on March 30 and 31, 2024, from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM each day.

Training will include basic chainsaw safety, use, and equipment maintenance. Participants will gain basic skills for addressing tree issues on trails. The first day will focus on Game of Logging's Level 1 course, and the second will focus on techniques for storm damage clean-up. Overnight lodging is available at the Stewardship Training Center in dorm-style bedrooms (registration for lodging can be found at checkout). Lunch will be provided; please specify any dietary related restrictions in your registration!

Participants should bring their own equipment for the course, including:

  • Gas or electric powered chainsaw
  • Chainsaw safety chaps
  • Ear protection (either over ear or ear plugs)
  • Safety glasses or face shield
  • Chainsaw safety helmet
  • Chainsaw sharpening tools if you have them
  • Notebook and writing utensils
  • Adequate weather gear as portions of the class will be conducted outside (training will be rain or shine, class will only be canceled for heavy snow, high winds, or thunder + lightning)
