About this event

A training opportunity encompassing foundational aspects of personal protection and general prepardness: Strength Training and Basic Pistol Shooting. Training is open to anyone 18+ and no lifting or shooting experience is required.

Our day will start at Starting Strength Tampa (2528 S Falkenburg Rd) for 2 hours of Deadlift Coaching, Programming your Workouts for Strength and discussion on why strength is important. We will break for lunch at 12pm and then meet back up at FishHawk Sporting Clays (13505 Hobson Simmons RdLithia, FL 33547) at 1pm for the pistol course.

What to Bring:

● Drivers License or state ID

● Full size or compact semi-automatic pistol (no revolvers, sub compact or micro

pistols)

● Outside waistband holster, dominant side, worn at 3 or 9 o'clock position

● Magazines (minimum of 2, prefer 3)

● Magazine pouches

● Sturdy belt for mounting holster and magazine pouches

● 200 rounds of factory ammunition

● Ear Protection (preferably electronic)

● Eye protection

● Suitable attire for outdoor range operations (no open toed shoes, tank tops, or low-

cut blouses)


Note

● There will be a water cooler with cups provided if needed at the range. The gym does have a water fountain.

● Bring appropriate food and drinks to sustain yourself for duration of training.

● All breaks will be taken on the range.

● The range store has full-service restrooms with showers but due to distance from

the range only porta-johns will be available for use during training.

● The porta johns are stocked and cleaned daily for customer use.

● Sun block, bug juice, hat, or any other environmental protection you want is optional

but highly recommended.


Frequently asked questions

What do I wear?

For the Lifting Portion: Athletic workout clothes and flat shoes are preferable. For the Shooting Portion: Closed toed shoes, longpants, and anything you need to keep you comfortable outside for 3 hours.

What do I do when I arrive to the range?

● Upon arrival, leave firearms and equipment inside locked vehicle until directed. ● Report to the FishHawk Sporting Clays store for check-in with instructor at the designated time. ● You will receive a golf cart after check-in for transporting self and any equipment to and from range.
