The proceeds from this meet will be donated to the Down Syndrome Association of Brazos Valley who help provide a support network for new parents that receive a Down Syndrome diagnosis as well as help with the financial costs of summer camps for their members. They provide an unmatched peer group for kids and adults with Down Syndrome and their families through socials, events, and awareness activities.

Gaines Family Testimonial: The day we received our diagnosis of Down Syndrome will never be forgotten by my wife or I. Our whole world was shook by those words and we knew life would never be the same. We didn't know the first thing about taking care of and raising a child with Down Syndrome as we were the first in our family and friend group to have a child with DS. Luckily, through our church and also the DSABV, we were introduced to the couple that would become her Godparents. Their youngest son has DS, but he's in his early 20s. They've walked our walk, and have guided us throughout our journey even today. They shared with us what to expect and used the DSABV to introduce us to even more families that had children the same age as our Madeline. These people have become our extended family and have been there through all of our ups and downs helping us through their own experiences.

Over Mother's Day weekend this year Madeline was hospitalized with pneumonia, and the DSABV ordered Mother's Day lunch for our family. It was a small gesture that meant the world to us as my sons and I were tired from driving back and forth to Temple, and Kim was exhausted from staying the week in the hospital with her. We are proud to be able to bring friends with new DS diagnoses in their families into the larger DSABV family where they are able to benefit from similar experiences to ours.

We appreciate everything DSABV has done for us, and through Barbell Rodeo, we want to help them continue creating valuable experiences for their members. In doing so, showing everyone that we are more alike than different.

We would like to give a huge thank you to our sponsors (more will be announced soon!):
