The South Australian Chapter of the Australasian Study of Parliament Group (ASPG) invites you to the House of Assembly chamber for a special evening reflecting on one of the most consequential decades in South Australia’s political history.

From bold economic reform and social change to the political challenges that defined a generation, this discussion will revisit a period whose legacy continues to influence South Australia today.

The conversation will be facilitated by Mike Smithson, veteran journalist and broadcaster, bringing his trademark insight and perspective to the discussion.

Joining the panel are three figures with firsthand experience of the era:

  • Hon. Don Hopgood AO, former Deputy Premier and Minister
  • Hon. Chris Sumner AM, former Attorney-General
  • Hon Greg Crafter AO, former Minister and Leader of the House

Together, they will reflect on the leadership, decision‑making and political environment of the 1980s, offering personal insights, behind‑the‑scenes recollections and reflections.
