Bakehouse Art Complex is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit arts organization that envisions a world that supports and values artists and recognizes their ability to shape, reflect, and transform our world. On View: Between the legible and the opaque: Approaches to an ideal in place curated by Adler GuerrierBetween the legible and the opaque: Approaches to an ideal in place proposes works of various media that incorporate abstraction as both a formal and conceptual framework to render perceptions of place. The use of abstraction facilitates readings of the process inherent in their making. This process involves elements that reference diverse notions of place – its color, materiality, use of language, and instantaneity as landscape. The summation of these notions, a conversation between the work as a whole and its constituent parts, contributes to varying degrees of legibility and evocativeness. The participating artists are Liene Bosquê, Jenny Brillhart, Jude Broughan, Alain Castoriano, Robert Chambers, Irina Dakhnovskaia-Lawton, Lucia Del Sanchez, Genderfail, Ivan Grilo, Xavier Luján, Marron et Masqué, Juan Matos, Nicole Maynard-Sahar, Tana Oshima, Alice Quaresma, Marielle Plaisir, Carrie Sieh, Gerbi Tsesarskaia, and Cristina Victor.Archeology of Memory: The site and sound of ceramicscurated by Morel Doucet Archeology of Memory: The site and sound of ceramics, examines the history and use of materials in their raw form, examined through the lens of material culture and utilitarian tradition. The exhibition explores the transcendental nature of the medium, bringing together artists who work with ceramics, glass, and cement in both traditional and experimental allegory to challenge the notions of perception and the psychology of texture, color, and form. The works function within the cross lexicon of said elements and consider scale, both intimate or grand. Archeology of Memory invites viewers to walk through the synaptic workings of each artist’s mind to visually witness the manifestations of their inner thoughts and aspirations. The participating artists are Judith Berk-King, Beatriz Chachamovits, Xavier Cortada, Morel Doucet, Jenna Efrein, Sharon Norwood, Lauren Shapiro, Troy Simmons, Kira Tippenhauer, and Valeria Yamamoto.The Passing of Time IIcurated by The Gallery Club - Amsterdam The Gallery Club is premiering its new group exhibition The Passing of Time II with work by photographers Amanda Bradley, Maritza Caneca, Stephan Göttlicher, and Luis Lazo. Themes like the notion of time, memories, and history play an important role in the diverse stories of the participating photographers. This exhibition is a sequence sequel of to an exhibition organized by The Gallery Club in Miami in April 2019.Succulents: Recipes for Architectural Consumptioncurated by Dawntown (Joachim Perez + Germane Barnes)This project is an exploration of the process through which we digest the built environment. Contemporary architecture is experiencing a pedagogical shift not limited to representation, speculation, and professionalism. The means through which we consume this information continues to change, presenting itself as a malleable organism to be observed. Featuring Viola Ago of MIRACLES Architecture, Could be Architecture (Joseph Altshuler + Zack Morrison), cchung. studio(), SPORTS, Informal Office (Erin Ruhl + Jordan Hines, and Andrew Santa Lucia of Office Andorus. Curator-led tours of the exhibitions will be offered during Baker&#x27;s Brunch.All studios around the Complex are open to visitors.
