Description

This training is to help give an understanding of the common bacterial and bloodborne infections that are common for people who use drugs. We will go over the transmissions, symptoms, and treatment for these, as well as the best ways to prevent them from occurring. In addition, we will discuss the handling and disposing of biohazardous materials, the risks involved, and the best practices for safety.

About the Speaker

Reid Getty was born and raised in Eastern NC and has lived in Durham for almost 10 years. Reid is a person with lived experience and has worked for NCHRC for about 5 years as an outreach worker and has been a field phlebotomist for three years. In the triangle, Reid covers both city and rural settings in a variety of outreach settings.

How do I get to the training?

When arriving to 8307 building, you will see tables outside with umbrellas. Follow the sidewalk between the 8301 and 8307 buildings to the back of this 8307 building. The large training room will be the first door on the right. If you have any issues finding the training room, call 704-375-3784.

Where can I park?

Parking is free and there should be plenty of spaces available in the executive park drive parking lot. Overflow parking is available across the street (McCullough Drive) at 201 McCullough Drive, and will be able to walk across the street to 8307 University Executive Park Drive building.

Is this training eligible for Continuing Education Units (CEUs)?

Yes! You will receive documentation from the Center for Prevention Services for completion of this training after the training is completed. CEU type: General Skill Building (GSB)
