You've camped near your car; you've done several long day hikes. Now you're ready to put it all together and hit the trail. Join us for a Backpacking Gear Orientation session at Blue Bell Park! Learn all about the essential planning and gear you need for a successful backpacking trip. Our experienced guides will share tips and tricks to make your outdoor adventure a breeze. Don't miss out on this opportunity to gear up and get ready for your next backpacking trip!

Learn how to prepare for your first backpacking trip. We will cover the several systems that work together to give you the knowledge and skill to be a capable backpacker. This course is designed to prepare individuals or family groups for backcountry experiences. We'll cover choosing a route, gear, clothing, food and water, packing your bag, Leave No Trace guidelines, risk management, a bit of first aid, and "We do *what* to use the bathroom!?". We will demonstrate and practice site set up with our backpacking gear. After participating in a Backpacking Gear Orientation, attendees will have access to our backpack specific gear.

This event will include:

• Logistics: planning, navigation, safety
• Ten essentials
• Leave No Trace guidelines
• Gear systems - including hands on set up practice

Note: This course is directed to individuals and families. This is course is not a comprehensive leadership development course that would be necessary for take groups on trips.
