Backbending Workshop
Unlock deeper backbends in this 90-minute workshop. Learn the techniques to safely progress toward Camel, Wheel, and beyond.
Backbends are some of the most powerful and liberating postures in yoga. When approached with the right technique, they can transform not only the spine, but your entire energetic and emotional experience on the mat.
In this 90-minute immersive workshop, international teacher Nikunja Vilasi Das will guide you through a progressive backbending sequence designed to safely and intelligently deepen your practice.
Together we will move from foundational poses such as Sphinx and Cobra toward deeper expressions like Camel and Wheel, developing the strength, mobility, and awareness needed to access more advanced backbends with confidence.
This workshop goes beyond simply “going deeper.” You will learn how to integrate:
• Intelligent spinal mechanics
• Breathwork to support deeper opening
• Nervous system regulation for safer backbending
• Energetic awareness through the heart center (Anahata chakra)
Through a combination of technical instruction, guided drills, hands-on assists, and progressive sequencing, you will experience how backbends can become both more accessible and more powerful.
By the end of the workshop you’ll leave with:
• Greater spinal mobility and strength
• Practical techniques to deepen your backbends safely
• A more open chest and shoulders
• A deeper understanding of the energetic effects of heart-opening postures
