<h2>About this Event</h2><p>This Online Try Coding Workshop with <a href="http://turing.io" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Turing School</a> of Software &amp; Design is for individuals who have <em>some</em> introductory experience with Back-End programming and are looking for <em>another</em> opportunity to explore their interest in software development. If you have attended a Try Coding Workshop with Turing School in the past, this workshop is your next chance to determine if learning how to code at the Turing School is a great fit for you. </p><p>This class will have one Turing instructor and a teaching assistant in a virtual classroom who will guide you and other attendees through a structured curriculum where you will write code on your own and collaboratively with other students. </p><h2></h2><h2>Course Content</h2><p>In this single session class, participants will write code in Ruby, a Back-End programming language, and will learn about various ways to structure data efficiently.</p><p>Schedule</p><ul><li>Wednesday, September 16 from 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time</li><li>During break, there will be an industry panel discussion with software developers. Have questions about the life of a developer or making a career change into tech? Get them answered here!</li></ul><p></p><h2>Who Should Register?</h2><p>If you’ve attended <em>both</em> of Turing’s Back-End &amp; Front End Try Coding Workshops, or have spent at least 10+ hours learning about the basics of Ruby, you’ll be prepared for this workshop. Participants should be comfortable with the content covered in our <a href="https://try.turing.io/backend-online/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Back-End Try Coding Curriculum</a> or <a href="https://www.codecademy.com/learn/learn-ruby" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">sections 1-3 of Codecademy’s Learn Ruby course.</a></p><p>This more advanced, fast-paced, workshop is not for individuals who are beginners and brand new to code. If you are a beginner, please register for one of Turing’s <a href="https://turing.io/try-coding/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">introductory Try Coding Workshops</a> and be on the lookout for another Try Coding 2.0 Workshop event to be added soon.</p><p></p><p><strong>Additional information is located at the bottom of this page in the FAQ section. </strong></p><h2></h2><h2>What You Will Learn?</h2><p>Primarily working in Ruby, a Back-End programming language, participants will learn about various ways to organize data in a program. Please note, the $500 discount can only be applied to tuition one time per person. How will I connect to the virtual session?</em></p><p>You will need a computer for this class that can connect to the internet and operate <a href="https://zoom.us/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Zoom</a>. Once you register you will receive a calendar invite with the specific information on how to connect to the Zoom classroom we will be using. We recommend that you download Zoom now to ensure it is compatible with your computer.</p><p><em>2. What equipment should I have for this online class?</em></p><p>A computer that can connect to the internet via a web browser. We recommend using headphones to minimize distractions and ensure you can access the information. It will also be beneficial to find a quiet working space where you will be able to focus during the duration of the workshop.</p><p><em>3. I want to attend but I can&#x27;t afford it. Are there any scholarships available?</em></p><p>We are offering scholarships on a limited basis for students with financial need. Are kids welcome?</em></p><p>This is a workshop designed for professional level adults and is not designed for kids. We ask that individuals under age 17 do not register to attend.</p><p><em>5. What is the refund policy?</em></p><p>If for any reason you can’t make it to the event, tickets are refundable up to 24 hours before. If the event has passed then we are happy to transfer your ticket to any upcoming <a href="http://trycoding.turing.io" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Try Coding</a>.</p><p><em>6. I’m not sure if I should sign up for this workshop, who can I contact with questions?</em></p><p>Please reach out to our Technical Programs Instructor, Amy, at <a href="mailto:amy@turing.io" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">amy@turing.io</a> if you have questions about whether or not you should register for this class. </p><p></p><p>*Cancellation of events are dependent on a variety of factors including registrations, inclement weather and pressing needs that come up. If we do cancel your Try Coding workshop, you will be notified more than 24 hours in advance, credited back your registration payment and sent the schedule of other events. During the workshop, participants are asked to follow instructor directions and conduct themselves respectfully in all interactions. If you are a repeated disturbance, our instructors reserve the right to remove you from the class. </p><p></p><p></p>
