Lineage is not linear. Enter into sacred space with your ancestors and descendants, as the past, present, and future weave together into one tapestry. Awaken 2024, Illuman's annual men's gathering, calls you come and add your story to the pattern. We will gather on the weekend of All Saints, All Souls, and Dia de los Muertos to reconnect with our stories of origin - honoring the wisdom of those who have gone before - so together we can foster a better story for our collective future.
Not just a typical "conference," Awaken incorporates the touchstones that make Illuman's work unique: deep inner work featuring ritual, teaching, nature wanderings, poetry, drumming, song, small group councils, and open time to just rest, recreate, and connect.
We gather around the core vision of a whole and healthy masculinity described by our founder, Richard Rohr, almost three decades ago. We come together for the vital work of healing our wounds and awakening our Inner Wildman, Soulful Artist, and Wise Sage. We do this to help us reengage as re-invigorated contemplative activists who bring beauty and healing to a desperate world.
Whether you are new to Illuman, or already an initiated man, you are invited to walk shoulder-to-shoulder with hundreds of your brothers as we renew old bonds, build new friendships, and engage in this transformative process together.

What: A 4-day, 3-night gathering for any and all male-identified persons to engage in deep, transformative inner work
When: 5pm, Thursday, October 31st to 1pm, Sunday, November 3rd
Where: Lake Williamson Christian Center in Carlinville, Illinois - one hour north of St. Louis
Cost: Super Early Bird Rate of $625/person until June 2 for a double occupancy motel style room and nine meals (Thursday dinner through Sunday lunch)
SCHOLARSHIPS are available! We need volunteers to help us behind the scenes, so if you would like to offer your time in exchange for a full or partial scholarship, please fill out this application form to receive a scholarship code. Once you've been approved and recieved your code, return here and finish your registration.

Frequently asked questions
No! All men are welcome to attend, even if this is your first Illuman event.
Lake Williamson Christian Center is 75 minutes north of St Louis Lambert International Airport. For those flying, we will offer two airport shuttles on Thursday at 1:30pm and 3:30pm sharp (and return shuttles on Sunday). All others will need to rent a car, drive your own, or carpool with other men.
Unfortunately, no. Space is limited, so each man will need to share a room with at least one or two others. However, if you have special health concerns that require you to have a single room, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Yes. After you register you will be sent a link to the room sign-up form. If there is a man you would like to room with, coordinate this with him first, and then leave his name in the comment box on the room sign-up. He will still also need to sign-up for that same room separately.
Yes! There are plenty of RV spots and we will be offering a lower rate for RV campers.
Probably. We will be working with the camp to provide vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, kosher, and halal requirements as needed. Please indicate any special dietary needs when registering.
No, the event itself is only for male-identified persons, and, unfortunately, due to space limitations, we are not able to provide housing for wives, girlfriends, or anyone else not registered for the event.
Yes! There will be designated space for our Awaken Marketplace where you can sell or display your own original creations (books, art, music, etc.) If you would like to do this, please fill out the submission form that will come in your confirmation email.
Yes. We have a limited number of wheelchair accessible rooms available. Select it as an add-on when you register.
If you need to cancel for any reason, you may request a full refund, less processing fees, at any time prior to the event. Refunds after requested after October 13 will also incur a $100 late-cancellation fee. To request a refund, follow the link in your confirmation email.
