About this event

  • 2 hours 15 minutes

Join us for a special presentation of this uniquely Marin story of the incredible survival of Herbert Heller during the war. Heller, kept his miraculous escape from the Auschwitz Birkenau death march a secret for 60 years, even from his wife and children. That is, until he meets Abbey, a young teenager whose own brush with pain and death inspires him to open up as well, leading the two of them to exchange their stories, building an unlikely friendship that gives them each a newfound purpose. Set in locations as disparate as Terezín, Prague, and across Mill Valley's redwood groves, this story takes you on a journey of pain, beauty, and healing.

Stay for a conversation with Finn Taylor (director), Jeanine Thomas (producer), and Vivian Cohen (daughter of Herbert) moderated by Michael Krasny.

Light refreshements will be served.
