Classroom: Wednesday January 20 &amp; Thursday January 21: 7:00-9:30pm, Via ZOOM. After you register you will receive a confirmation email with your ZOOM webinar link and passcode. *If you are interested in just the classroom portion of this course, tickets are available. Email friendsofgnfac@gmail.com to register. Field Session: One field day session is included with tickets. Students register for ONE of the following: Saturday January 23, Sunday January 24, Saturday January 30 or Sunday January 31 from 9:15am-3:00pm at Bridger Bowl, or our Snowmobile specific field session Saturday January 30 at Buck Ridge from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. *Pre-registration is REQUIRED and includes a Backcountry Access Slope Meter and ECT cord!You MUST attend both classroom sessions to go in the field on the weekend.*This years course will look a little different due to COVID-19. We&#x27;re looking forward to having you join us for our Avalanche Fundamentals course! This year&#x27;s classroom portion will be online and LIVE, via Zoom, featuring our usual presenters! The field session will be hosted at Bridger Bowl, featuring a lower instructor to student ratio, allowing distancing during instruction. Field sessions are capped at 50 students per day this year. Please bring a mask or face covering for use in the base area, chair lifts and times where we may be closer together. The workshops will be held on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with a field course on either Saturday or Sunday. Each evening different topics will be presented and will include: avalanche terrain recognition, the effect weather has on avalanche hazard, the development of the mountain snowpack, decision-making skills, and basic companion rescue procedures. Participants in the field course should have basic skiing and snowboarding skills with the appropriate equipment to negotiate “groomed” intermediate ski runs. Please bring skins or snowshoes for uphill travel. Although not required, an avalanche rescue beacon, shovel, and probe will be very helpful for the field session. If you are signing up for the Snowmobile Field Session you must have your own sled and feel comfortable with basic backcountry riding. No tandem riding allowed. Cost: $40.00 donation to the Friends of GNFAC (includes course and BCA Slope Meter and ECT cord). Tickets for the CLASSROOM-ONLY sessions are available for $10.
