Autumn Collage Workshop

Sorcha O'Higgins is a collage artist and freelance writer. With a background in architecture and urban art, she works almost exclusively with existing analogue material to create both abstract and figurative work. She is drawn to bold colours, patterns and contrasting elements, which she then compositionally curates to construct playful, direct and sometimes brazen artworks. Her style ranges from geometric and architectural to fluid and harmonious, and recent work has focused on using the medium of collage to examine gendered imagery.She has done bespoke commissions for hotels, theatre productions, magazine covers, album artwork and brand identities, as well as commercial prints and personal work. She runs corporate and group workshops, and intends this year to expand her practice into artscape installations for spaces, brands and events.

The Jar

Aaaaaand WE'RE BACK!!! With the first in-person collage workshop in Dublin since the pandemic!Join me for an exciting night of collage, craic and company at The Jar on Camden Street on Thursday 30th September from 7pm to 10pm. This event is designed to be fun, relaxing and crafty, where you will spend three hours on an autumnal Thursday evening learning various tips and tricks for composing an image through collage, including colour composition, framing, depth and scale. The three hour workshop is a meditative practice of choosing, cutting, composing and creating your own artworks. It's a relaxing, informal and collective activity where you can get crafty and meet new people, and maybe even come away with a new hobby! All materials will be provided, as will generous helpings of delicious food on the night, so all you need to bring is your lovely self and some good vibes :) Drinks are available from the bar, so you can sample some of The Jar's delicious signature cocktails should The event will be held in The Jar's gorgeous upstairs enclosed terrace, Tickets are €65 (includes materials, food and booking fee). Spaces are limited and all attendees will be required to provide a vaccination cert as this is a hospitality venue. Can't wait to see you all there!!!
