Indy Reads' mission is to build literacy, English language and job readiness skills to empower adults and families to reach their full potential. Our community bookstore is an essential part of our Adult Basic Education programming, as well as a site for book lovers of all ages! To help keep classes free for our adult students, all purchases support members of our community in earning their High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma, improving their English language skills, and obtaining job certifications.We also provide family-friendly community programming like story times, multilingual readings, workshops, author events, partner events, and more!

Join Becky Thacker on June 1st at Indy Reads from 2-4 pm for the release party of her new book Geezer Dyke and Other Stories of Bad Behavior!There will be a reading, Q&amp;A session, and a signing to follow.This event is recommended for ages 13+.All proceeds from book sales at Indy Reads support our English literacy programming.

Geezer Dyke &amp; Other Stories of Bad Behavior Funny, real, and unapologetically queer, How would a ship full of lesbians fare in a disaster? What are the prostitutes reading by the bus stop by the library? Having finally accepted yourself and liking what you saw in the mirror, what would a butch lesbian do if she woke up as a hyper-feminine teenager? Geezer Dyke and Other Stories of Bad Behavior explores these questions and more. Becky Thacker’s Geezer Dyke and Other Stories of Bad Behavior is a collection of high energy, imaginative short stories about the antics and lives of an assortment of not so unproblematic lesbians. The stories pack a punch and subvert expectations. Often addressing issues of identity, gender, and races, "Geezer Dyke" is an elder lesbian’s reflection of the joys and pains of the queer experience without boiling down the characters to their queerness.

Meet the AuthorBecky Thacker was born 70-plus years ago in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula but grew up on military bases around the world. She’s been writing since elementary school, and holds an Associate Degree in Computer Processing and a Bachelors Degree in Sociology.She now lives with her wife Harriet in Indianapolis with seasonal forays into Lillian, Alabama.Becky is the author of six books, including: Five Dollars &amp; An Axe, Faithful Unto Death, The Amazon Girls Handbook, The Chorus Kids Memorial Day Parade, and Geezer Dyke &amp; Other Stories of Bad Behavior .
