About Austin Angels:
Austin Angels is dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families in the foster care community. Their mission is to provide consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building, and mentorship.

Why Your Participation Matters:

  • Youth in foster care are three times more likely to experience expulsion than their peers not in care.
  • Annually, 4,000 youth transition from foster care to homelessness.
  • A child with five or more placements has a 90% likelihood of entering the criminal justice system.
  • 91% of states are lacking adequate programs to address the mental health needs of youth in foster care.

These statistics highlight the urgent need for support and action. By joining us for this run/walk, you can help us make a real difference.

About the Organizer:

Dre Nuzum is proud to host this event in collaboration with Austin Angels. Having navigated the foster care system himself, at a young age, before finding a family through adoption, Dre understands firsthand the challenges faced by children in the foster care system. This organization holds a special place in his heart, as he continues to mentor youth who are going through similar experiences. One issue Dre has observed is the insufficient mental support available to these children. Through this event, Dre aims to shed light on the crucial work of Austin Angels and provide resources so they are able to better support children in foster care.
