August Eclipse Professional Development Workshop

The Challenger Learning Center-St. Louis features space mission simulations and other “out-of-this-world”, hands-on educational programs that emphasize teamwork, communication, and creative problem-solving skills. Programs are available for schools, community groups, corporations and the general public.The St. Louis facility is part of the Challenger Center for Space Science Education, an international not-for-profit education organization founded in April 1986 by the families of the astronauts tragically lost during the Challenger space shuttle mission. It is locally operated through a partnership of the Ferguson-Florissant School District, the Saint Louis Science Center and EducationPlus.

The Challenger Learning Center will be hosting a professional development workshop for K-12 educators that will help them prepare for the upcoming total solar eclipse.
Activities will include: appropriate curriculum materials &amp; resources for elementary, middle &amp; high school teachers, various models and activites that easily describe what an eclipse is, ways to safely view the eclipse, and advance preparation ideas for your school.
Solar viewing glasses will be provided to attendees and continental breakfast will be served. We are requesting that a maximum of 2 teachers per school attend this workshop so we can serve as many schools as possible.
